Hello, my name is Merta Merdiana Lestari, usually called Merta. I graduated from the Islamic Education Department at Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin University in Serang, Banten. Since university, I have been actively involved in organizations and social activities. I enjoy hiking and traveling, and I also have a strong passion for reading and writing. Merta has published her own book in the form of a poetry anthology. She has been actively writing since college and has participated in various online and offline writing competitions. Some of her works have been published in collaborative books with other writers, and she also regularly shares poetry on social media and blogs.
Merta has previously served as an education volunteer in Cidaun, West Java, and North Lombok. Currently, she works as an Education Facilitator at Sokola Rimba, collaborating with Kelompok Makekal Bersatu in Bukit Duabelas to support the Orang Rimba community. For Merta, joining Sokola Rimba is a unique opportunity to continue the struggle for inclusive and community-centered education.
Merta believes that education is one of the most important foundations of human life. She does not see education as limited to school buildings alone; rather, she believes that the intergenerational and unwritten knowledge held by Indigenous communities is also an essential part of contextual education.
